Laura Hobson Faure: “Who Will Rescue Us? The Lives of Jewish Children who Fled to France and the U.S. During the Holocaust”
Jews in Modern Europe Seminar
Join Laura Hobson Faure as she discusses her recent book, Who Will Rescue Us? The Story of the Jewish Children who Fled to France and America (Yale University Press, 2025), and her ongoing research on Jewish children in France and the United States during the Holocaust and its long aftermath. In her work, Faure explores how several small Kindertransport initiatives sought to protect Jewish children from Nazi persecution by transporting them to France and then across the Atlantic, to the United States. Who Will Rescue Us? tells a complex story of children and families on the run and the adults and the organizations–Jewish, Christian, and Secular–that helped them.
Laura Hobson Faure is Professor of Contemporary History and Chair of Modern Jewish History, University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne
