The leadership of the Center for Jewish Studies includes faculty from three schools at Harvard–Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS), Harvard Divinity School and Harvard Law School–as well as thirteen different academic departments within the FAS.

Derek Penslar joined the faculty of the Department of History at Harvard in 2016, and in 2018 he became the William Lee Frost Professor of Jewish History. He is a resident faculty member at Harvard’s Center for European Studies and is affiliated with Harvard’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies. Professor Penslar is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the American Academy for Jewish Research and is an Honorary Fellow of St. Anne’s College, Oxford.
