Yakov Z. Mayer is a historian of medieval and early modern book history, his interests move from material book culture, manuscripts and early printings, to Talmudic and Halakhic literature.  After BA and MA studies in the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Mayer completed his dissertation in Tel Aviv University, which was focused on the Hebrew Venetian printing workshops of the 16th century. Mayer is a Kreitman postdoctoral fellow in Ben Gurion University of the Negev, and part of the ERC project JEWTACT: Jewish Translation and Cultural Transfer in the Early Modern Period. His book, Editio Princeps: The First Edition of the Palestinian Talmud (Venice 1523) and the transition of Talmudic Literature from Manuscript to Print, is forthcoming at Magnes Press.
