Rabbi Daniel Stein

Rabbi Daniel Z. Stein is the spiritual leader of Congregation B’nai Shalom in Walnut Creek California, as well as a doctoral student in Jewish history at the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley. His research focuses on questions of memory, mourning, resilience and loss in yizker bikher—memorial anthologies created by survivor communities after the Shoah. Rabbi Stein is also a member of the contingent faculty committee of the Association for Jewish Studies, and previously served on the faculty of Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. He received his rabbinic ordination as well as a master’s degree in Yiddish Literature from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in 2010.
