Oded Haklai

Oded Haklai is a Professor of Political Studies and Director of the Centre for the Study of Democracy and Diversity at Queen’s University in Canada. His research interests include national and ethnic conflict, state-minority relations, the politics of settlers in contested lands, Israeli politics, and Israeli-Palestinian relations. He has published extensively on these topics. His first book, Palestinian Ethnonationalism in Israel was winner of the Shapiro Prize for Best Book in Israel Studies. His most recent publication is a special issue entitled, “The Peril of Regime Change in Israel,” which was published in April. He is also editor of the journal Israel Studies Review.
Haklai has held visiting scholarships and research fellowships at the Hebrew University, Tel Aviv University, and George Washington University. In 2024/25, Haklai is a Visting Scholar at the Weatherhead Center Visiting Scholars Program and at the Center for Jewish Studies at Harvard.
