Dr. Tchiya Froman is a Starr Fellow at the Center for Jewish Studies at Harvard University. She received her PhD from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, where she wrote her dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Oded Yisraeli on the ascent of prayer and the concept of kavanah in a Zoharic composition known as Heikhalot Pekudei. Her research focuses on Zoharic mysticism, theurgy, and the cognitive and spiritual structures of prayer. Her current project examines the political implications of kabbalistic theurgy, analyzing how concepts of intentionality and divine unification inform the mystical-political thought and peace activism of Rabbi Menachem Froman.
