Jonathan Decter is the Edmond J. Safra Professor of Sephardic Studies in the Department of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies at Brandeis University. His most recent book, Dominion Built of Praise: Panegyric and Legitimacy among Jews in the Medieval Mediterranean (UPenn, 2018) was the winner of a National Jewish Book Award. His first book, Iberian Jewish Literature: Between al-Andalus and Christian Europe (Indiana UP, 2007), won the Salo W. Baron Prize. His numerous publications address medieval Hebrew literature, Judeo-Arabic literature, and medieval Jewish thinking about Religion.
