HDS 3335 – Narratives of Displacement and Belonging in Israel/Palestine

In this interdisciplinary seminar, we will examine a diversity of narratives regarding displacement and belonging in and about Israel/Palestine, centering concerns with human rights, historical justice and accountability, and critical religious literacy. Integrating into the course a diversity of guest speakers, students will engage the Palestine/Israel context through multiple prisms, including law, human rights praxis, global public health, religious studies, social movement theory, art, history, political theory, media, and geography, among other disciplinary frames. Special attention will be given to religious ideologies and institutions’ roles in shaping diverse narratives. There are no prerequisites for this course.
