The goal of this course is to help students develop fluency and confidence in reading texts from the Hebrew Bible in Hebrew. To this end, the bulk of the course will consist of close readings of select narrative passages from the Bible, with a focus on understanding and analyzing their vocabulary, morphology, and syntax. Students will also systematically review the most common vocabulary found in the Hebrew Bible as a whole, as well as various aspects of grammar covered in first-year Hebrew.

Prerequisite: Introductory Classical Hebrew I and II (CLAS-HEB AA+AB = HDS 4010 A+B) or the equivalent.
