Idan Pinto is a scholar of medieval Jewish thought, specializing in 13th-century Kabbalistic literature. His doctoral dissertation focused on the life and writings of Rabbi Bahya ben Asher ibn Halawa, and he has previously served as a visiting lecturer at Tel Aviv University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research combines historical-philological findings with phenomenological analysis, with a focus on the reworking of earlier Kabbalistic material by the great compilers of the late 13th and early 14th centuries, as well as on the intersections between Kabbalah, philosophy, and esoteric Ashkenazi traditions. He is currently compiling an index of theosophical interpretations of the Tetragrammaton, highlighting the linguistic dimensions of Kabbalistic theosophy.
